It is designed for joints 500 mm width and minimum of 100 depth to accommodate low to medium three dimensional movement range. Dr.Fixit PidiJoint 6297 HM is a proprietary blend of thermoplastic compounds. Key ingredients are bitumen, polymers, fillers, and additives. It is formulated to combine easy flow at application temperatures with flexibility and slump control during service life. It is used with aggregate to ensure highload bearing capacity and resistance to wheel tracking. The combination of highly flexible joint sealant and single sized interlocking aggregate allows the system to provide excellent anti rutting quality. Specification BS EN 13043 Highway Department (Thailand) Features and Benefits Fast drying, durable and excellent adhesive strength Easy to pour into joint thickness up to 5 cm per coat without crack Easy to melt, applied hot and in a fluid condition, with temperatures up to 180°C. Excellent elasticity accommodating expansion and contraction of bridge joint. Will not peel even under long flooding immersion. Area of Application Expansion joints on high traffic bridges on roads and highways. Method of Application 1. The surfacing is cut to the specified width in the carriageway using a floor saw and a trench is excavated. 2. This cut-out toogether with the previousl formed recess is the verge/central reserve is cleaned and dried with hot compressed air. 3. The expansin gap is then caulked and the deck sealed with hot binder. If specified, in joint hydraulic relief are instakked, metal bridging plates inserted over the gap and the entire trench tankrd with binder. 4. The aggregate is heated and pre-coated with the binder before being placed into the trench. The layer is then flooded with binder before subsequent layers are placed. For 1 coat heat 3/4 inch aggregate size at 180 °C to remove water vapor prior to adding melted Dr.Fixit pidJoint 6297 HM onto heated aggregate. Wait for aggregate is fuily coated with Dr.Fixit PidiJoint 6297 HM pour into prepare joint. For 2 coat heat 3/8 inch aggregate size at 90 °C prior to adding melted Dr.Fixit pidiJoint 6297 HM onto heated agregare. Wait for aggregate is fully coated with Dr.Fixit PidiJoint 6297 HM pour into prepare joint an compact the surface level. 6. Finally the joint is flooded with binder to the finished profile and allowed to cool before the final layer is applied - this is stone rich, brought marginally above the road surface and then compacted to the level of the adjacent carriageway. Normally the joint can be trafficked in 3-4 hours, but this will depend on the amdient temperature, depth of joint the geeneral weater condition. 7. A final applicaion of binder may be necesey to blend in any small interstices which may appear on the surface of the joint whilst cooling. Arti-skid dressing is applicd to the joint. 8. Clean surface, tape around joint surface edge, and pour melted Dr.Fixit PidiJoint 6297 HM to level and seal of joint within tape area, wait for 2 to 3 hours prior to opening for traffic. Cleaning Tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately with kerosene or mimeral tupentine.
